  • Simply Red High Gloss Kitchen Doors

Posted on February 15, 2012 by benIDdoors

With love in the air after Valentines Day, I thought it would only be right to blog about how you can make you kitchen stand out by adding red high gloss kitchen doors! People are really going daring at the moment and choosing stand alone colours with impact and one popular choice is red high gloss kitchen doors which is giving their kitchens that stylish look people want.

Red High Gloss Kitchen DoorsNow red is a bright bold colour and not one you should choose lightly so really think before you choose these bold colours as they may seem like a good idea at the time but you have to live with them once in!

Having said that, as stated in previous blogs I love colour in a kitchen and red high gloss kitchen doors seems to be the way people are going. Those of you that are hesitant with having red high gloss kitchen doors there is another option, something that really lifts any room especially in a kitchen is a feature wall so you can keep you kitchen colour scheme light and have that one stand out wall with a bold colour. The beauty of it if you hate it you can paint over it, though if like me you love it you can then move to the next step and get the whole kitchen done in that colour. Another thing to take into consideration when going for a red is to take the lighting into account especially in smaller layout. If you have very little natural light really think about it because it will bring out what the red is meant to do which is create the illusion its much bigger. But as in a darker room the red will appear darker and make it feel a lot smaller! Having taken all off that into consideration and your still thinking of doing it I say go for it after all love is in the air!

No you haven't read the title wrong today I'm blogging about the latest trend, knitted and crocheted accessories set to liven up any kitchen. After seeing these I will admit I laughed a lot but then I started to want them for my kitchen more and more. There are a few that baffle me such as a knitted candle cover, which to me spells danger but today I would like to talk about my top 3 knitted accessories for the kitchen from the cheap to the expensive. First your traditional tea pot cosy yes they've been around since the late 1800's but now they are back and in style the vibrant colours will stand out in your kitchen and surprisingly give you a modern look. However the price's have gone up as now can range anywhere between £40 and £100's but I'm sure if you look hard enough you can find them cheaper. Due to the wide selection of colours it won't be hard to find one that matches your colour scheme. Second the Crazy Cockerel egg cosy from I Like Chickens only £9.95 handmade using lambs wool the quirky design will look great in any kitchen and if you have kids they will love it. With Easter around the corner I can't think off a better time to purchase one and who knows it might get your kids excited enough to learn how to make you scrambled egg on toast in bed! 'Macie' Textured Knit Covered Table Lamp Lastly and this isn't an impulse buy, your going to have to really like it for the price £450. Its a Bud Stripe table lamp by Melanie Porter at Not On The High Street and the more I see it the more I want it! Its bright its vibrant and will certainly be a talking point in any kitchen, this knitted item is my guilty pleasure and I'm very tempted to buy one if only a little cheaper. For those with a bit of extra cash I couldn't recommend it more. Please let us know if you two have brought into the crazy of knitted accessories.

  • Top Tips for Gallery Kitchens & Replacement Kitchen Doors

Posted on February 1, 2012 by benIDdoors

A few wise rules to follow when updating your gallery kitchen with replacement kitchen doors.

If your gallery kitchen is quite small, then it will probably suffer form shadows. I would suggest using a colour to brighten up these areas , this could be on the wall or your new replacement kitchen doors. Spend some time looking at your kitchen as it is now, grab a coffee and see were the light hits and study what your dark corners are. Maybe paint that that shadowed wall a bright lively featured wall. Hang a mirror were the light hits so it bounces back into the room and avoid dark colours here as it will exorb the light. While we are talking about brightening, think about installing some built-in plinth lights or glazed cupboards to show off your replacement kitchen doors. Plinth lights are a great way to add that little bit of extra light. My second tip to consider is how many units you have, you maybe able to reduce the amount. With small gallery kitchens the same mistake can often be made by having units running the full length of the floor and walls. Think about what you have to store in your kitchen, what will be behind your new replacement kitchen doors? There are loads of storage solutions that can be fitted to existing units, there is different versions to store many different items to optimise space. If you can clear out a few wall units have them removed, opening up the space. Thirdly and this is my personal opinion, have lots of deep drawers! I have found that you can utilise the space of drawers much better and if you install drawer dividers this will help you keep organised. Just because its hidden behind replacement kitchen doors dose not mean it needs to be cluttered. Keep it organised and your keep enjoying your updated replacement kitchen doors. My final tip, if you do any reaganging before installing your replacement kitchen doors, make sure you have enough room for both doors to be open on both sides of your gallyer kitchen.
